In June of this year, Council member Ed Gallo proposed to increase the rental subsidy amounts for both mobile home owners and apartment renters. The increase would mean $25 more for the rental subsidy. This amount is supposed to take effect starting October, 2011. For those people who are in parks that no longer participate in the rental subsidy program, while there will be no new applicants to the program, you will still receive the increase and continue to receive the subsidy without interruption.

There is a possible delay in the subsidy increase which CEMV has worked with the City Attorney's Office to remedy. If you do not receive the $25 increase in the subsidy amount as of October 1, please let CEMV know and we'll help resolve the matter.

The contract that was sent to apartment owners and mobile home park owners when the subsidy increase was approved contained language that was problematic. The city attorney's office has since authorized the owners to remove the language from the contracts and return the contracts for processing by the Housing Department. As of this writing, all of the workings are in place to provide the increased amount for the rental subsidies on time. Again, if you are receiving the rental subsidy and you do not receive the increase, please let us know.
